New Episodes of My Podcast Will Only Be On YouTube. Here's Why.
I have decided to stop distributing the podcast to major platforms like Apple and Google due to cost. For now, all new episodes will be on YouTube.
After considerable reflection, I have decided to stop distributing my podcast on Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Pocket Casts, and all other platforms where it previously appeared. The truth is, keeping the podcast live across all those platforms costs money, and that’s simply money I don’t have right now.
Every month, I'm paying Captivate.fm, and those fees add up quickly. For now, I just can’t justify spending that money when I’m already stretched thin helping people day in and day out.
The Podcast Still Matters to Me
This doesn’t mean I’m giving up on the podcast. Far from it, even though I simply haven’t had time to record new episodes since March. I still believe in what it does. I still believe that sharing the stories of people living through the worst kinds of systemic neglect matters.
I want people to hear and read about what it’s really like to fight for basic needs that most take for granted. This includes shelter, food, transportation, Income Support, and for basic dignity, especially when the system keeps throwing up barriers. The only change is that all new episodes will only be posted to my YouTube channel.
If Support Increases, I’ll Revisit This
I’d love to bring the podcast back to all the major platforms at some point, and I’ll be happy to do so if donations increase. If people believe my work is valuable and want to help sustain it, it would mean a lot. Every dollar helps me keep telling these stories, and keep doing the frontline work that those stories come from.
Final Thoughts
I know that not everyone uses YouTube as their go-to platform for podcasts, and I understand that this change might be frustrating for some listeners. I appreciate your understanding. I’m still out here every day with the folks who need my help, and I’ll keep doing my best to bring their voices forward in any way I can.
Support My Work
I cannot do my important work without YOUR support. Please consider a one-time or monthly donation. I have no other sources of funding.
